RusAccreditation informed the international community about the main events of the national accreditation system in the Russian Federation for the second half of 2020.

In the period from November 2019 to May 2020, APAC assessors carried out a documentation audit of the national accreditation system of the Russian Federation. Based on the results of review of the final report on the document review, the APAC MRAMC concluded that RusAccreditation demonstrated the transition to ISO/IEC 17011:2017 "Conformity assessment. Requirements for accreditation bodies accrediting conformity assessment bodies". The corresponding certificate is dated June 1, 2020.
In April, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree on the appointment of Nazariy Skrypnik as Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation (RusAccreditation), who previously held the position of Deputy Head of the Service. Alexey Khersontsev, who previously was the Head of RusAccreditation, was appointed State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation. In this position he continues to supervise the activities of RusAccreditation.
The ILAC News issue also published an overview of the measures taken by RusAccreditation in the context of the spread of COVID-19. In particular, the Service publishes reviews of explanations of international organizations for accreditation on how accreditation and conformity assessment bodies should act in the context of the spread of COVID-19. As part of implementing the measures to protect public health and prevent harm to life and health of citizens, RusAccreditation has switched to on-site assessments of applicants and accredited CABs' compliance with the accreditation criteria through remote interaction. In May 2020, the Service with the support of the National Institute for Accreditation of RusAccreditation organized a special webinar on organization of work of assessors in the context of the spread of COVID-19. With the participation of RusAccreditation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia have developed Extended Recommendations on Temporary Measures on Inspection Control, Sampling and Other Scheduled Works, taking into account the difficult epidemiological situation associated with the spread of coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
In August 2020, a meeting of the Federal Service for Accreditation Public Council was held, where the results of the activities of the Federal Service for Accreditation for 2019 and the objectives of RusAccreditation for 2020 were presented. Participants noted the significant contribution of the RusAccreditation Public Council in the formation of the national accreditation system, the active interaction of the Service with the professional and expert community, prompt response of the department to requests from industry and business representatives, the participation of a collegial body in the development of the digital ecosystem of the national accreditation system.
